Overview
The MQ712 is a 7-band inductor based graphic equalizer. This EQ is based on the popular 70s "swinging input" topology and features frequency points similar to many graphic equalizers of the time. The top and low bands are switchable between shelf and bell curves. The MQ712 utilizes proportional Q filters. With a total of 7 bands available with 12 dB boost/cut, this EQ is capable of producing a variety of EQ curves and we consider it to be extremely versatile on all sources.
At the heart of the MQ712 are 7 custom in-house wound inductors. The 4 lower bands use a pot-core inductor while the upper 3 bands utilize MPP toroidal inductors. The input is transformer balanced with our custom wound input transformer and the output is also transformer balanced with a full steel core transformer for a bit harmonic coloration. All bands features variable potentiometers with a center detent. The opamp is our discrete 1991 opamp.
High quality components are used throughout the MQ712 including custom potentiometers, Wima/Vishay/Nichicon capacitors, and Ritel collet knobs. The unit is entirely built in-house in the USA.
